What is thola?
Five minutes, no jargon. By the end of this page, you'll have a mental model that makes the rest of the guide easy.
The one-line version
thola is a small, hyper-competent operations team that you can't afford to hire — built into one app.
You ask in plain language. The app does the work. When it needs you to look at something before it commits — sending money, sending an email to a customer — it pauses and asks.
That's it. Everything else is detail.
The mental model, in four pictures
You'll meet four words a lot. Here's what each one actually looks like.
The Planner is whoever you're talking to in chat. Its only job: understand what you want and route it to the right specialist. You will rarely think about who handled what.
Each one owns one slice of the business. You never call them by name — you ask the Planner; it picks.
Five module scores roll into one number. Updates the moment your data does. Calibrated against businesses like yours, so it actually means something.
When something is actually wrong, a Red Flag surfaces with severity, owner, and a one-tap fix. Three tiers, no more.
What you'll be doing
Day to day, you'll do four kinds of things. That's the entire surface.
Ask the Planner anything. Streams the answer back.
Drop a CSV, Excel, PDF, or photo. Confirm what thola found.
Approve actions that touch money or external people.
Look at Red Flags, decide what to fix this week.
What about long-running work?
Some things take longer than a single chat reply — onboarding an employee, running payroll, chasing an overdue invoice over three weeks. These become Tasks. They have a status (in progress / blocked / done), an owner, and a small thread where you can ask the Planner "why is the onboarding stuck?" and get an answer.
You don't have to remember tasks exist. The Planner mentions them when they're relevant.
What thola is not
A few things, on purpose:
Two screens cover 80% of your time
- Home — Health Score, top 3 Red Flags, three things you might do today
- Chat — talk to the Planner about whatever's on your plate
The rest exists for the moments you need to drill in.
