What is thola?

Five minutes, no jargon. By the end of this page, you'll have a mental model that makes the rest of the guide easy.

The one-line version

thola is a small, hyper-competent operations team that you can't afford to hire — built into one app.

You ask in plain language. The app does the work. When it needs you to look at something before it commits — sending money, sending an email to a customer — it pauses and asks.

That's it. Everything else is detail.

The mental model, in four pictures

You'll meet four words a lot. Here's what each one actually looks like.

This is an HR request — routing to the HR agent. Drafting a job requisition now.

The Planner is whoever you're talking to in chat. Its only job: understand what you want and route it to the right specialist. You will rarely think about who handled what.

What about long-running work?

Some things take longer than a single chat reply — onboarding an employee, running payroll, chasing an overdue invoice over three weeks. These become Tasks. They have a status (in progress / blocked / done), an owner, and a small thread where you can ask the Planner "why is the onboarding stuck?" and get an answer.

You don't have to remember tasks exist. The Planner mentions them when they're relevant.

What thola is not

A few things, on purpose:

×Not a chatbot bolted onto a dashboard. Agents are first-class; dashboards summarise what they already know.
×Not a generic AI tool. Every answer is grounded in your data, in your workspace, with your permissions.
×Not a replacement for your accountant. Great at cashflow and anomaly detection. Not GST counsel.
×Not going to auto-send things on your behalf. Customer messages, payments, payroll runs — always preview, you always confirm.
